Željka Černok earned a degree in English and Swedish language and literature from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. She has translated over seventy books from Swedish and Norwegian languages, among them the works of Tove Jansson, Stieg Larsson, Frode Grytten, Hjalmar Söderberg, Linn Ullmann, Ingmara Bergmana and others. She translates Nordic poetry, writes about Swedish literature and reviews the Berlin theatre scene for Croatian National Radio’s Third Channel. In 2022 she was received an award for her work in translation from the Swedish Academy.
